Frame on glass for printed icons.
Start 1960s. Glass, mascara, oil. 68x53 cm, drawing on glass - 18x53 cm. The back side is covered with posters from 1961. The works were owned by Polyuga Maria (b. 1931 - d. 2013), from Bishche. Kindly transferred by daughter Nadiya Tkachuk to the main collection of Nina Dmitrivna. Photo - October, 2012. Framing on glass is a separate phenomenon (direction?) in folk painting. Art critic Oksana Shpak notes in her article "PAINTING ON GLASS OF EASTERN OPILLA AND WESTERN PODILLIA" of the mid-second half of the 20th century. (field research materials of 2011), about such glass decorative frames for photocopy icons (which were widely distributed in the 1940s-1960s): "today there are quite rare examples of the functioning of decorative glass frames in residential premises. Therefore, cases when such works are still in the interior, they deserve special attention."
