"Boiler room sails" from the "

Canvas, oil In the picture, I depicted a really existing place in my hometown - this is a boiler room, which is located not far from my house. The work belongs to a series of my urban landscapes about Ryazan. In my style of ornamentalism, I applied a new special technique to the soft contours of patterns that do not have clear boundaries, but flow seamlessly into one another, creating a sense of movement of airspace. There is not a single straight line in the plot - all contours, including architecture, turn into dancing patterns. I tried to convey on the canvas the magical life of ordinary things and places of the city landscape, which, when glanced quickly, usually do not attract people's attention. Each of these provincial nooks and crannies lives its own life and even a simple boiler house can dream in their dreams of a round-the-world trip under sail. She looks up at the sky and sees the growing moon. I applied another new trick - duality. The picture depicted two growing moons, two young months. In shape, they resemble sails. Ornamental images carry a metaphorical and multiple interpretation. These sails also resemble floating fish, and the whole picture is the underwater kingdom, which is created thanks to the dancing lines of the patterns. The doubling element also affected the tube of the boiler room, which at the same time personifies the pipes of the steamer, they, letting out smoke, rush the steamer-boiler room along the river of dreams. The boiler room windows are repeated with their pattern on pipes and even in the sky. By this technique I designate the idea that in the sky there is a part of the earth, and on the earth a part of the heaven, and the connecting links between them are patterns, signs, symbols, ornaments that incorporate the qualities and information of all the elements. © Copyright: Alexey AKINDINOV, November 6, 2019.
